Woodworking Instructor

Alex Lohn

Furniture Maker

About Alex Lohn

Alex Lohn began adulthood acquiring a degree in architecture from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. While there he became somewhat disillusioned by the prospect of office life in front of a computer. Desiring to build with his hands and design complete pieces, he was drawn to furniture. It took many turns and moves across the country to fully dive into this dream, but he would eventually found the opportunity for an internship at Nakashima Woodworker. This was just a small taste that a life making furniture could actually be for him.

After moving to Austin in 2017 he was able to work under Shota Yamaguchi and in 2018 was accepted to the Center for Furniture Craftsmanship’s comprehensive 9-month furniture program. He has since had work shown in their Messler Gallery in Spring 2019 and took second place in seating at the AWFS fair, Las Vegas.

He is just beginning his solo career and is currently in pursuit of residential commissions. His woodworking and other art can be found at www.alessandroandmaria.com
